Read the panel before offering stock
The heading describes the customer’s action: Buying means they want to buy your stock; Selling means they offer goods to you. Green interest tags show accepted categories. Red tags describe restrictions or excluded categories. Purple Variety limits repeated products. Hover an information marker for its explanation. A matching green tag does not override a red restriction.
All displayed restriction types
| Restriction | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Variety | After buying a product, this visitor refuses another of the same product. |
| No contraband | Contraband is refused even if its ordinary category matches. |
| Security | Security-related warning: offering illegal goods can expose you. |
| Excluded category | Any red item-category tag means this buyer refuses that category; the category catalogue lists all 60 names. |

What Variety actually counts
Variety compares the underlying product, not the broad category, custom name, condition or orientation. Chocolate, synthetic meat and juice are three different products, even though two may both be Food. Renaming a second chocolate bar does not make it new. The record belongs to the current visitor and updates after each sale, including when selling a batch.
In the pictured example, the buyer likes Food and Beverage: three distinct products total 70, below the 78 budget. Having two categories does not mean the customer accepts only two items.

Budget and refusal checklist
If the total exceeds the budget, the game offers confirmation to proceed anyway. That does not increase the budget: payment is capped at the remaining money. Remove goods or negotiate a total within budget when you want full payment.
If a green-matching item is refused, check its exact product, excluded tags, contraband, already-bought variety and chemical grade. Hazardous waste, non-resale goods and some dangerous-water labels are also refused. An unlocked container can be refused because one of its contents is unwanted. Lower Levels/scavenger water buyers also refuse Luxury Item goods; Upper Levels and tourists are exceptions.
Accepted goods can still undergo authenticity checks when placed on the counter and before sale. Interest and inspection ability are separate.
