Probably Stolen smelting guide: scrap, ore and metal ingots
Dismantle old machinery and smelt scrap or ore into ingots overnight. Check power, output space, purity, flux, blast and junk-processing upgrades, and suppliers.

What does the Junker business involve?
Buy old goods to recover useful parts, and smelt scrap metal or ore into ingots for sale. Each purchase asks the same question: will processing earn more than selling the item as it is? This route suits players who enjoy sorting stock and setting up overnight production.
Demo 049-Rev5-L does not offer the Junker start or Joe Wild’s ruined-machine referral. The steps below cover equipment you already have. The GP Mining Cooperative referral is available at a base cost of 250 credits and opens ore orders. That payment does not include a furnace.
How do you make your first ingot?
Furnace
- Prepare a furnace, an energy cell and at least two pieces of scrap metal or ore.
- Put the cell and materials inside. You can mix scrap and ore. Leave room in the output slots.
- Close the shop for the night. Normal mode produces one ingot per two materials.
- Collect the output next morning and check its quality before selling.

Metal Ore
Metal Ingot
For comparable material grades, ore gives better ingot purity than scrap. Learn the routine with inexpensive stock before paying extra for better ore. Use the item reference to identify materials and compare base values.
Which tools dismantle old machinery?
Use the Scav Scanner to inspect the machine and its anti-tamper devices first. Recover valuable parts before using the Plasma Cutter, which destroys the original machine.
- Recover modules with the Module Extractor first.
- Use a Screwdriver and Wire Cutter on removable parts.
- Finish with the Plasma Cutter to turn the shell into scrap metal.

Compare the purchase price with the materials you can recover. Start with small trades while learning part values. The appraisal guide covers the checks to make before buying old goods.
Should you buy flux or a furnace module?
Flux Smelting Agent (Basic)
Flux improves ingot purity. Basic flux is consumed when it contributes its improvement; advanced flux can be reused. Check what your materials and equipment already produce before paying for a higher grade.
Furnace Module (Blast)
The Blast module produces two ingots per three materials at the cost of a lower purity bonus. Compare the finished ingot sale offers before choosing the larger batch.
Furnace Module (Junk Processing)
The Junk Processing module turns six pieces of junk into four pieces of scrap metal. Save up junk, process it, then use the recovered scrap in a normal smelting batch.
What do the furnace stats change?
- Efficiency changes power consumption.
- Performance has no effect on this machine.
- Quality changes the maximum ingot purity.
Choose an upgrade for the result you need. To make more ingots per batch, compare the Blast module above.
How do you judge whether processing pays?
Add up the material purchase cost and the energy-cell and flux usage, then compare the actual ingot sale offer. With Blast installed, compare the quality of the ingots you actually produce. Sell your first batch and keep enough for replacement materials and rent before expanding.
