Where do you get cells and charging equipment?

After closing your shop, visit Dr. Jackson for Energy Cells and Energy Cells (Mk. II). His stock includes both charged and empty ordinary cells, so check remaining energy before buying. Rechargers, PowerBlocs and Self Charging Energy Cells can also appear in his shop; check the current stock for the equipment you need.

Why does a machine with materials still do nothing?

Many machines need their own Energy Cell. Paying the shop’s electricity bill does not install a battery for them. Open the machine’s contents, put a charged cell in its battery slot, then add the required materials. Overnight machines process them when the day advances.

Check the cell’s remaining energy and the machine’s current power requirement. A cell sitting beside a machine in storage does not replace one in its battery slot. The Cryptographic Desequencer, for example, needs a cell for power, a chip to set permissions and an access keycard to receive them.

Which energy cell should you use?

Energy CellEnergy Cell (Mk. II)Self Charging Energy Cell

Energy cells

Cell Full capacity Charging
Energy Cell 100 Recharger or adjacent PowerBloc
Energy Cell (Mk. II) 250 Recharger or adjacent PowerBloc
Self Charging Energy Cell 100 Restores 4 energy itself each night

Capacity is not the cell’s current charge. Inspect its remaining energy before assigning work. Mk. II holds more energy; a machine still draws the amount its operation requires.

How do you use a Recharger?

Recharger

Recharger

  1. Pay the shop’s Power Service fee.
  2. Open the Recharger and put your Energy Cell in its battery position.
  3. Leave it inside overnight. Standard power restores 3 energy per night.
  4. Take it out the next day, check its charge and return it to a machine.

The Recharger fills a cell over multiple nights. Unlocking the Commercial Grade Power Supply Unit increases the nightly amount to 6.

Where should you place a PowerBloc?

PowerBloc

PowerBloc

Place a PowerBloc adjacent to an Energy Cell. It also charges cells inside adjacent machines, so you can leave a machine’s battery installed. Each PowerBloc supplies 2 energy per night with standard power. Multiple PowerBlocs stack. The commercial power upgrade raises each one’s contribution to 4.

Power Service must be paid. A PowerBloc does not provide its adjacent charging bonus to cells inside a Recharger. If the target machine also works that night, its remaining energy reflects both charging and consumption.

What should you check after an uneventful night?

  • No production: check that the battery is installed, has enough energy, and that all materials or containers are present.
  • No grid charging: check Power Service, the PowerBloc’s position and whether a blackout is affecting your shop.
  • Power use changed after an upgrade: read the machine’s current requirement. The module guide explains Efficiency, Performance and Quality.

Without paid electricity, machines with charged cells can still work, while shop lighting and grid devices are affected. See the water purification guide for a complete equipment workflow and the item catalogue for pictures and base prices.
