What does a hydroponic farmer do each day?
Buy seeds, prepare suitable water and nutrients, keep the system running and harvest crops. Sell the produce or grow Bloomberries for wine and Dream Caps for chemical processing. Learn one crop before adding another production chain.
Joe Wild’s Retired Farmer referral has a base cost of 350 credits. Its description lists an immediate starter kit and a farmer visiting the next day and weekly thereafter.
Why start with Nutrifruit?
Nutrifruit Seed
Nutrifruit
Nutrifruit is the manual’s easy starter crop. Use it to learn water refills, energy-cell changes and harvesting. Once the system runs reliably, choose seeds for the product you want to sell.
Prepare the system, seeds, a water container, an energy cell and nutrients. Use a Plant Analyser on seeds to see their growing requirements and health. Check these before switching crops.
How do you plant the first batch?
- Fit a water container filled with Ghostwater or Basewater.
- Add minerals to provide nutrients.
- Install power and put in the seeds.
- Close the shop and let the crop grow. The starter manual gives a wait of one or two days.
- Check water and power the next morning, and harvest when the crop is ready.
Check both water and energy before ending each day. Leave enough cash to replenish them alongside your next stock order.
Why are yields low when there is enough water?
Check the plant requirements, pollutants and mineral concentration. Most plants need water with low contamination. Minerals feed plants, but both too little and too much can hurt yields. Each plant has its own tolerance.
Hydroponic Nutrient Tablet
When yields drop, check nutrients and add a Hydroponic Nutrient Tablet as needed. Use the water guide to identify water grades and contaminants before refilling.
Should you sell the harvest or keep it as an ingredient?
Choose the business you want to supply. For produce sales, compare harvest size, replenishment costs and actual offers. For wine, keep berries for the next batch. For chemical processing, reserve its ingredients. Stock waiting between machines still ties up cash.
Begin with one system and one crop. Harvest and sell a batch before buying more equipment, then check that you can keep paying for water, power and seeds. The item catalogue identifies seeds and supplies; the career Wiki connects the other routes.
