Timing, stacking and planning

Normal random market events start after day 5 when the introduction is retained. Bought intelligence and story visitors can schedule events separately. A one-day event marked “ends today” still affects today’s trading; its duration decreases when the day ends. Repeating the same active event extends it to the incoming duration if that is longer, rather than adding both durations. Different active price bonuses add when an item matches their categories. Opposing effects can coexist and offset each other: Food−20% and Food+50% give a combined event modifier of+30%. Fixed Commissary purchase prices use their own rules.

For a known shortage, prepare the affected stock before it starts and keep cash for rent. For an incoming surplus, compare waiting for cheaper supplies with the cash needed now. A water or power emergency also changes which customers and supplies matter; prepare purification equipment or charged cells. A day remaining is a selling window, not a reason to start production that will finish after the event. Use the event note and calendar together to track the start and end.
