Prepare, depart and return
Pack a bag with free space, a Flashlight and any useful tools. Select the Dumping Ground after closing, press Search, then move useful finds from Ground into your carrying slots. Repeat while attempts remain and you can still search. A fresh wound stops further searching. Before Return, collect everything you want; ground leftovers are lost.
Search attempts and injury risks
The base limit is 5 searches per visit. Proficient Scavenger adds 2; Careful Scavenger removes 2 and prevents search injuries. Degenerative Osteoarthritis removes one maximum attempt per week after week one; below 3, scavenging stops. Events can add attempts. Maimed removes the location.
Before equipment and events, minor-wound chance is 5% + 1 percentage point per attempt already used; major-wound chance is 1% + 0.25 point per attempt used. The minor roll runs first, so these are not two independent guaranteed opportunities to roll an injury. Carrying a Flashlight halves both displayed chances. Introductory protection covers the first 10 searches against minor wounds and first 20 against major wounds; it is a search counter, not a number of safe days.
This introductory protection applies only when Skip Intro is off.
Carried tools and extra finds
Flashlight ·
Scav Scanner ·
Screwdriver ·
Wire Cutter ·
Plasma Cutter
Carried Screwdriver, Wire Cutter and Plasma Cutter each add a separate 10% chance for screws, wire and scrap metal on successful loot searches. A Scav Scanner starts at 15% for an extra main loot roll and can be upgraded by 5 points up to 100%. Eligible bag finds have a separate 3% chance, progressing from satchel to kids’ backpack. There is also a 1% cassette chance and 1% mousetrap chance. Events can change the loot mix and injury risk.
Hazardous waste can be abandoned here; it is a separate disposal use, and does not make searching safer.
