How to handle Security visits

1. Before opening the shutter, remove contraband and stolen goods from the display case and prepare the rest of your stock for a search.
2. Check the Security VIP reward on the reputation screen. It unlocks at 100 reputation and stops routine inspections once active.
3. When an officer arrives, read the name, role and opening dialogue. Use the table below to distinguish inspections, investigations and story visits.
4. If you suspect an impersonator, compare the visitor with the wanted list before using the counter alarm.

Read the visitor’s name, role and opening dialogue before choosing a response.

How do you confirm that VIP is active?

1. Open the reputation screen and find Security.
2. Inspect the VIP reward. Its threshold is 100 Security reputation.
3. Check that the reward tooltip says it is active. Use that reward state when deciding whether routine inspections should have stopped.

If VIP is inactive, continue improving Security reputation. Correctly identifying and dealing with Augs is one route, explained in the Aug guide.

What should you remove before opening the shop?

1. Check the display case to the left of the shutter.
2. Remove items marked as contraband. This display-case trigger checks the contraband mark, so check every tier.
3. Remove stolen goods you were using to attract buyers. Their heat affects the chance of recognition.
4. Restock the case with legal goods, then open the shutter.

Opening the shutter prepares the day’s visitors and checks the display case. A triggered display-case inspection is a full search, so prepare the rest of your stock using the contraband, heat and hidden-storage instructions.

Why do inspections still happen at 100 or 110 reputation?

An active Security VIP reward stops routine inspections. Display-case stock can still trigger a full search. Contraband in the display case, or stolen goods that Security recognizes there, uses a separate check.

Start with the display case if an officer arrives despite your high reputation. An investigation, an officer responding after an Aug shooting, and a story visitor also have their own reasons to visit.

Can you cancel a visit by moving stock or reaching VIP today?

An inspector already queued for today can still arrive after you clear the display case or activate VIP. Make these changes before opening the shutter for the next day.

If the officer is already at the counter, read the actual demand and handle that encounter. Moving a risky item from the display case into ordinary inventory still leaves it inside the shop and available to a search.

How do you handle a suspected fake officer?

Compare the visitor with the wanted list. When you recognize a listed impersonator, use the counter’s alarm button to call Security. Leroy can still confiscate goods if you let him inspect.

High reputation alone does not identify an impostor. Display-case searches and case-related visits can still bring genuine officers. Officer Lun also has a separate story conversation; follow the request he actually makes.

Should you report the Conspiracy Theorist?

Reporting the Conspiracy Theorist counts as a false report. Security takes him away, and you lose 6 Lower District reputation and 8 Security reputation. If you have at least 100 credits when the report is resolved, you also pay a 50-credit fine.

He sells 3 Glass Shivs and 2 Lead Pipes as homemade protection against aliens. These goods are legal. Inspect and negotiate if you want to buy, or dismiss him.

Repeated false reports bring arrest warnings in the incident reports.
