Who is Dr. Jackson?

Dr. Jackson is an inventor in the Lower Levels. He knew the previous tenant of your shop and offers machines, gadgets and modules to help run it. He also buys materials; that dialogue describes what he buys from you.

How do you visit his shop?

After meeting him and receiving his invitation, close your own shop, open the sector map and choose his shop. The introduction unlocks the map destination; games that skip the introduction also show it. The Lower Levels reputation penalty Shunned hides his shop destination and stops his ordinary visits.

The Toolbox date is a separate stock condition. You do not have to wait until day 14 to unlock his whole shop or buy a Toolbox to receive the invitation.

What can you buy?

Goods	Availability and use
Power	Ordinary cells appear with 100 or 0 charge, and Mk. II cells with 250. Rechargers, PowerBlocs and self-charging cells may also be offered. Check charge before buying.
Cards and access	The Cryptographic Desequencer, blank keycards and Security, Command, Medical, Engineering and Service chips. The machine and chips include random stock; all chip types need not appear together.
Modules	Performance, efficiency and quality modules; possible Overclock, Eco and Refinement modules, Nodes, advanced extractors and expansion kits.
Shop machines and storage	Storage Bays, Machine Bays, Smuggler’s Bays, furnaces, fridges and security alarms. Some are random; several stock checks depend on whether you already own one.
Inspection and outings	Magnifying Glass; possible Scav Scanner and Flashlight. The Scav Scanner improves scavenging, while the Aug Scanner has a separate story condition below.
Toolbox	Available after day 14 if you do not own one. This stock branch requires neither Jackson Investment nor a random roll.
Other tools	Labelers, Blue Labelers, the Metallurgy Manual, Water Trading Manual, cigarette and food-stamp appraisal aids, signs and Black Lamps. Bags and backpacks are also possible when visiting his shop.

In Demo 050, starting with Skip Intro bypasses the Toolbox date requirement. You still buy it from Jackson, and this stock appears only while you do not own a Toolbox.

Which goods need story progress?

Aug Scanner: it can be offered only after the Aug story has been introduced and before that story ends, if you do not own one. It remains a possible offer during that window, rather than a guaranteed item at every visit.

Water equipment: unlocking Water Trading adds access to stock such as AquaScan, water filters and purifiers, the Bottle Printer and Moisture Farm. The Retired Winemaker unlock adds possible wine-aging equipment and a Yeast Bioreactor.

The Retired Farmer and Retired Chemist unlocks add farming and chemical stock in the broader inventory rules, but those network services are locked in Demo 049-Rev5-L. Do not plan a Demo purchase around unlocking them.

Does Jackson Investment help?

Joe Wild offers Jackson Investment I, with a base fee of 400 credits. It permanently increases Jackson’s budget and stock, including guaranteed module stock. The actual service quote can change with reputation. Investment II has a base fee of 650 and requires I, but is locked in this Demo. Neither investment is required for the Toolbox.

Why is an item missing?

Check whether you already own the item, whether its story or network requirement is met, and whether it is a random offer. Look again on a later visit for random stock. A missing item does not mean his whole shop is locked.

These conditions apply to Demo 049-Rev5-L. Use the actual shop quote when buying: the item catalogue lists base values. The Junker who offers Scrap Metal and Electronic Parts is a different trader.
