Which business should you start with?
Trading centers on buying stock and negotiating. Water and wine involve processing goods for sale, while rats need daily care. Choose a route that fits both your budget and the kind of work you enjoy.
- Trading: Buy goods, inspect them, negotiate and put them on sale. Keep cash available for stock and find suitable buyers; money stays tied up until goods sell.
- Water: Buy water, test and treat it, then sell it. Get treatment tools, supplies and containers; each batch needs processing and bottling.
- Wine: Buy ingredients, mix a batch, ferment it and sell the finished wine. Keep ingredients and bottles supplied; serve customers and trade while fermentation runs.
- Rats: Raise pups, breed the colony and sell meat from surplus animals. Get cages and food, feed and clean every day, and leave space for newborns.
The waste manager pays you to accept radioactive waste, but the barrels still need transporting and disposal. Check the radioactive-waste guide before treating this offer as easy income.
How do you get started?
- Starting a new run: Compare the supplies and conditions in the starting scenarios guide.
- Adding a business to your current shop: Buy the matching referral and starter kit from Joe Wild to get equipment and access to later suppliers.
When should you expand into a second business?
Complete a round of buying supplies, producing and selling to see how long it takes to recover your money and how much daily work it needs. Set aside rent and the next round of supplies. Add another route when you also have room in the shop and time to run it.
What other businesses can you explore?
- Scrap and smelting suits players who like dismantling old goods, recovering parts and arranging overnight production. Sell materials and ingots.
- Fencing and Black Market trade involves risky stock and underground exchanges. Build contacts and reserve hidden storage.
- Hydroponics involves water, power and nutrient care. Sell crops or supply another business.
- Chemistry moves ingredients through several machines and checks finished purity before sale.
- Gunsmithing involves inspecting, dismantling, refurbishing and modifying weapons, with permits to consider.
Farming is unavailable in the current Demo, and chemical-supply packs cannot be unpacked. Each tutorial explains its equipment entry points. The career Wiki also records Pharmacist, Street Food Vendor, Moonshiner and Organ Dealer roles and equipment.
