Faction reputation: all rewards, penalties and recovery

Dex’s original playthrough screenshot · Simplified Chinese interface.

The feedback box tracks five separate relationships, each from −200 to +200. Hover a marker to read the effect and whether it is active. Positive effects require reputation at or above their threshold; negative effects require reputation at or below it. Crossing back removes the threshold effect. The display rounds to two decimals, but checks use the underlying value: a displayed 20.00 can still be just below 20. The Black Market’s loss multiplier is always active. The Cartel belongs to its special starting scenario and is covered separately.

All five faction tables

Lower Level Citizens

Changes, multipliers and recovery

On Normal, a legal ordinary trade worth 400 before bargaining gives approximately +0.66 Lower Levels, +1.20 Upper Levels or +1.00 to other factions. Selling cheaper or buying dearer can increase the gain; use the bargaining preview. Cozy/Normal/Hard/Challenge multiply positive changes by 1.5/1/0.75/0.5 and negative changes by 0.5/1/1.25/2. Blabbermouth halves positive Black Market and Revolution gains; Sycophant adds 25% to Upper Levels gains. Reporting a faction’s ordinary customer starts at a raw −8, worsens by 2 each time and bottoms at −20; the Black Market multiplier still applies. Correct reports are therefore not reputation-neutral.

Stop failed bargaining, false accusations and exposed fraud first. Use permitted legal trades, concessions and faction requests to recover. A successful Underground Exchange recipe gives base Black Market +0.1875, but the exchange is blocked at −40; use remaining legal trade or Criminal Connections instead. Crossing above the blocking threshold restores ordinary access, but does not reset Odin’s permanently refused phone state. A mob, immediate arrest or bombing already triggered at the shutter cannot be bought off.

Lower Levels 40 checks rare sellers on Mondays/Fridays:50% rare merchant, then on failure 25% gunsmith, then on failure 25% rare chemist; all can fail. Security 20 schedules Wednesday surplus; Security 40 reduces the ordinary burglary base roll by 16. Revolution 40 schedules a Sunday quartermaster, discount 20 + integer division(reputation−40)/4%; Revolution 80 adds Friday raid loot. These reputation visitors are added separately from ordinary customer slots.
