Open and load the player
The right-hand “radio” is the fixed Cassette Player. Double-click to open it. Its left storage and right playback compartment are each 6×6 and accept owned music cassettes. Left storage does not play; move tapes to the right to build the playlist. Playback follows the inventory’s internal item order rather than sorting by coordinates. The player itself cannot be sold or taken out. It consumes no battery or shop power. Playback gives no attraction, reputation or price bonus; cassette item categories still matter if you trade or display the tapes.
Playback controls
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Play | Stopped: first tape. Playing: pause. Paused: resume. |
| Third control / stop | Stops completely; pressing Play afterward starts the first tape. |
| Previous / next | Works while playing or paused; switches and starts playback, wrapping the list. |
| Track ends | Next automatically; last wraps to first. One tape loops itself. |
| Remove tapes | Uses a remaining valid track; an empty playlist stops. |
| Volume −/+ | Five percentage points per press,0–100%, applied immediately. |
| Load a save | Playing restarts the selected song; paused loads stopped, not at the exact saved second. |

Collecting tapes
There are 14 songs by A.L.I.S.O.N and M. Harvey Bee, each with pristine, damaged and corrupted audio:42 variants, with the same cover per song. Corrupted tapes still play their low-fidelity recording; there is no cassette repair operation. Pristine tapes carry Art and Luxury categories; the other states are Art.
Ordinary starts without Rock Bottom or Tapehead receive corrupted songs 3–6. Tapehead costs one point and actually supplies the first seven pristine recordings in shabby physical condition, not songs 8–14. ordinary supplier always offers one random corrupted tape from all 14, with independent extra damaged/pristine chances of D% and(D−20)% on dayD. Inventors have an 8% corrupted-tape chance; each scavenging generation adds a 1% chance. Evidence/service crates can add one at 15%/20% ×luck. A Secret Admirer gift, once actually triggered, has a further 15% chance.
Random missing-tape selection checks corrupted IDs in the player and its internal storage, not your entire shop or other states. Keeping a pristine recording elsewhere therefore does not guarantee the corrupted variant will be skipped. Durations below are approximate; Datasphere’s pristine recording is 2:45, while the other two are 3:05.
