Which tool do you need?

Use the Magnifying Glass to inspect goods and the Aug Scanner to check a customer. Choose according to what you need to find out.

How do you get and use a Magnifying Glass?

The mentor’s visual-inspection lesson provides a Magnifying Glass, a Cigarette Box and its guide. Dr. Jackson (the Inventor) also sells the glass at his shop. Keep the guide nearby when checking an unfamiliar product.

1. Read the goods’ tooltip and look for “Can be inspected with a Magnifying Glass”.
2. Use the Magnifying Glass on that item to open the Inspection Tray. You can inspect the seller’s goods before buying them.
3. Compare the details with the relevant product guide. For a Cigarette Box, check the lettering, colour, seal, logo and box.
4. If you find a fault, select its specific reason at the bottom of the tray, then choose Confront.

One genuine fault is enough to challenge a counterfeit. A correct challenge makes the seller adjust the price. A wrong one lowers reputation and may make the customer leave. Inspecting is the information-gathering step; choosing an accusation is your decision.

Why can I inspect an item but not confront anyone?

The tray also shows details of goods you already own. The seller-confrontation panel is for an eligible item still offered by the customer. Inspect before paying if you want the result to affect that purchase. Goods without the inspectable marking need their own testing method.

The Magnifying Glass needs neither a battery nor a nightly electricity payment. If it will not open a tray, check the target item’s marking first.

How do you get an Aug Scanner?

Dr. Jackson can sell an Aug Scanner once the Aug storyline has been introduced and while it remains active. Stock is random, so check his current goods when you visit.

The scanner detects the augmentation chip in the current customer. Formal or robotic speech can give you a reason to check; the scan supplies the identity result.

How do you scan and read the result?

1. Double-click the scanner to open its contents. Put an Energy Cell with at least 25 energy in its power-source slot.
2. Wait until a customer is at the counter. The scanner must belong to you.
3. Select the scanner and use Activate. One scan draws 25 energy.
4. Read the scanner’s tooltip while that customer is present.

The scan is accurate; it does not roll a false-positive chance. Ready to scan is not a completed result. Each customer can be scanned once, and the displayed result follows the current customer. Read it before moving on to the next one.

A fully charged standard Energy Cell holds 100 energy, enough for four scans. See energy cells and charging to refill or replace it.

Why is Activate unavailable?

Check that you own the scanner, a customer is currently present, that customer has not already been scanned, and the installed cell has at least 25 energy. Paying the shop’s electricity bill does not replace a cell in this slot.

Where do the other tools belong?
