Current Converter: installation, upgrades and electricity bills

Connect a machine

Find a Current Converter in Jackson’s stock. Put it in the machine’s power slot, replacing its battery. It does not store charge. Right-click for the item’s toggle action and check that its status is on. A converter cannot be installed in a Recharger or carried equipment.

Open the end-of-day services and enable Current Converter. Owning an accessible converter introduces this service; one still sealed inside a locked supply crate does not. Before ending the day, inspect the connected machine, its current consumption and the total service bill. A blackout blocks supply.

Upgrade and calculate

Use Common Electronic Parts on the converter. Each successful upgrade consumes material and reduces its rate by 0.1 credits per kJ, from 1.5 to 1.4, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and finally 1.0; five upgrades maximum. Ordinary efficiency modules inside the host machine reduce that machine’s demand.

For a bare 6 kJ Moisture Farm, the unupgraded rate gives 6 × 1.5 = 9 credits per night. A second 4 kJ machine at 1.4 adds 5.6: the combined nightly service rounds 14.6 up to 15, rather than rounding each line first. Daytime supply deducts the cost of that use immediately.

Shop power and paid conversion

Power Hijack makes the ordinary shop electricity service free. It does not remove Current Converter charges. Batteries and adjacent Power Blocks remain another supply method: compare actual nightly consumption before replacing them. If a machine stops, check the converter’s switch, the nightly service, blackout status and the machine’s inputs.
