What does this career do?

Junker knows used equipment and salvage. Recovered materials can become saleable metal. Decide whether an old item is worth refurbishing or dismantling, then arrange furnace space and power.

What are its starting resources?

  • Scavenger’s Gear and Tools
  • Increased starting reputation (Scavengers)
  • Additional equipment (Furnace)
Furnace

Furnace

Fit a power source and feed scrap or ore into the Furnace. Clear its output space before closing for the night, then collect the ingot next morning.

Module Extractor (Basic)ScrewdriverWire Cutter

Module Extractor, Screwdriver and Wire Cutter

Recover stuck modules before taking removable parts. Some of these materials may be worth keeping instead of cutting the machine straight into scrap.

Plasma Cutter

Plasma Cutter

Use this last to turn a ruined machine shell into Scrap Metal. Recover the modules and parts you want first.

Scrap MetalMetal OreMetal Ingot

Scrap Metal, Metal Ore and Metal Ingot

The first two are inputs; the ingot is the Furnace output. A normal batch consumes two inputs, and scrap and ore can be mixed.

Flux Smelting Agent (Basic)Furnace Module (Blast)

Basic flux and Blast module

Flux helps purity. The Blast module produces two ingots from three inputs. Learn normal smelting before comparing output prices and material costs.

Which Joe Wild contacts help?

Joe Wild’s GP Mining Coop costs 250 credits before adjustments and supplies a card and ore-ordering channel, without a Furnace. Ruined Machine Scrapping costs 300 and introduces scrapping supplies and machine stock. See the referral guide for contact steps and quotes.

What should I remove from a ruined machine first?

Inspect the machine and its anti-tamper devices before deciding what to pay. Remove modules, then parts, then the shell. Leave the Plasma Cutter until last because it destroys the original machine.

  1. Use a Module Extractor to recover stuck modules you can reuse or sell.
  2. Use the Screwdriver and Wire Cutter on removable parts to try to salvage screws, wire and other materials.
  3. Cut the shell with the Plasma Cutter to recover Scrap Metal.

How do I make the first ingot?

  1. Fit a charged Energy Cell to the Furnace and prepare at least two Scrap Metal or Metal Ore.
  2. Put the inputs in the Furnace. You can mix scrap and ore. Leave the output space clear.
  3. Close for the night. Normal mode turns two inputs into one Metal Ingot.
  4. Take out the ingot next morning, read its purity and valuation, then compare the material, power and flux costs.

Two ore inputs have higher base purity than two scrap inputs; mixed inputs fall between them. Machine quality and flux also change the result. Run a batch before deciding whether better ore is worth its price.

What should I check if there is no ingot or purity is low?

What happened What to check
No output after the night Check the cell, its charge, the input quantity and free output space
Low ingot purity Check the scrap-to-ore mix, machine quality and flux
A Blast module is fitted but production does not start Supply three inputs for its larger batch

Basic flux is consumed when it improves purity. Advanced flux is reusable. The Blast module turns three inputs into two ingots but reduces the purity bonus. Compare the output before buying upgrades. Efficiency affects power use, Quality affects the purity ceiling and Performance has no effect on this Furnace.

Where are the operating guides?

The smelting guide covers dismantling junk, turning scrap and ore into ingots, power and purity. Inspect used goods with the beginner guide before pricing them.

Version and availability

The Junker start and Ruined Machine Scrapping referral are locked in Demo 049-Rev5-L. GP Mining Coop supplies an ore-ordering channel, with no Furnace included in its price. Compare the starting scenarios for original Demo, Mod and version differences.
