How do you brew moonshine?

This entry covers GloomBerry Wine made with Synthetic Yeast. It uses the same Wine Bottle as ordinary berry wine and needs no berries. For legal BloomBerry Wine or higher ordinary wine quality, use the berry winemaking guide.

Synthetic YeastWine Bottle

Synthetic Yeast and Wine Bottle

The red packet is Synthetic Yeast: combine it with water to make GloomBerry Wine. The bottle holds the water and ferments the batch. Fill it to 750mL before adding yeast.

What materials do you need?

Material Per bottle Use
Wine Bottle with airlock 1 Holds water and ferments the batch
Water 750mL, filling the bottle Liquid ingredient
Synthetic Yeast 1 portion Consumed when fermentation starts

This recipe needs no berries. Ordinary Yeast follows the berry-wine recipe and cannot replace Synthetic Yeast for this product.

What are the bottle steps?

  1. Open the Wine Bottle interface and fill it with 750mL water.
  2. Place Synthetic Yeast in the ingredient grid. Check the ingredient name.
  3. Press “Start Fermentation”. The yeast is consumed and fermentation begins.
  4. Wait for two daily ticks, usually two nights. You can keep running the shop meanwhile.
  5. When finished, the product name changes to GloomBerry Wine.

The result is level-2 contraband. Plan display, storage and sales using the crime and hiding guide.

Can Small berries or better water make Master Vintage?

Synthetic Yeast sends the batch through the GloomBerry Wine process. Ordinary berry-quality scoring will not turn this product into Master Vintage. Use the materials above and save Small berries for ordinary wine.

For Master Vintage, switch to the ordinary berry-wine recipes. That guide explains berries, water, yeast and the top quality tier.

Tell the two yeasts apart

Synthetic Yeast on the left follows this recipe with water alone. Ordinary Yeast on the right makes ordinary berry wine and also needs berries.

Why has fermentation not started?

Open the bottle and check three things: it contains the full 750mL, Synthetic Yeast is in the ingredient grid, and you have pressed Start Fermentation. Starting consumes the yeast. Wait for two daily ticks, then check the finished product.

Smuggler's Bay

Smuggler’s Bay: store the finished batch

The finished wine is level-2 contraband. A Smuggler’s Bay outside the Display Case hides its contents during inspections. Keep this batch separate from ordinary wine stock.

Keep trading while the batch ferments. Check inspection notices before closing and leave hidden-storage space for the finished wine. See the crime and hiding guide for storage and inspection steps.

Where do bottles and yeast come from?

Joe Wild’s Retired Winemaker referral has a base cost of 200 credits. It immediately supplies three ordinary Yeast, three Wine Bottles, two BloomBerry portions, one water ration, one Magnifying Glass and a fermenting guide. The berries are one Normal and one Overripe portion. The winemaker first visits the next day, then weekly.

That kit contains ordinary Yeast. Source Synthetic Yeast separately. Use the referral guide for purchase steps and the item catalogue for names and pictures.

How does this relate to Moonshiner?

Moonshiner is the career for identifying, trading and brewing illicit alcohol. This entry is the specific GloomBerry Wine process. Ordinary berry wine and this product share a bottle, with different ingredients and results.

Demo 049-Rev5-L includes the Synthetic Yeast bottle process while the Moonshiner start remains locked.
