Moonshiner sells cheap illicit alcohol to the lower levels. The work involves inspecting stock, trading and brewing your own batches. Plan hidden storage before starting production, because moonshine is contraband.

Joe Wild’s Retired Winemaker referral has a base cost of 200 credits. It gives ordinary yeast, wine bottles, berries and other ordinary brewing supplies. Synthetic Yeast is not included. Use the referral guide to obtain bottles, then source ingredients for the product you want.

Ordinary Yeast and BloomBerry

The white container holds ordinary Yeast. Combine it with BloomBerries for ordinary fruit wine. Berry condition affects quality, so inspect the overripe berries with the Magnifying Glass before choosing a recipe. The winemaking guide explains which berries to use.

Fermenting guide, water ration and magnifier

The purple book is the BloomBerry Wine Fermenting Guide. Use the water ration to fill your bottle and the magnifier to inspect berries. These are the tools for preparing an ordinary fruit-wine batch.

How do I brew the first bottle?

Once you have Synthetic Yeast, make a bottle of GloomBerry Wine in this order:

1. Open a Wine Bottle with an airlock and fill it with 750mL of water.
2. Put one Synthetic Yeast in an ingredient slot. No berries are needed.
3. Select “Start Fermentation.” This consumes the Synthetic Yeast.
4. Wait for two daily updates, or two nights. The finished bottle should be named “GloomBerry Wine.”

You can run the shop while the wine ferments. For ordinary BloomBerry Wine, use ordinary Yeast and berries instead. The berry winemaking guide covers berry selection and quality recipes.

Smuggler’s Bay: storage for illicit wine

GloomBerry Wine is level-2 contraband. Before opening the shop, move it out of the display case and into a Smuggler’s Bay, then read the day’s inspection notices. Leave enough hidden storage for the bottles you are brewing.
